Polymer Clay anyone?

I bought some polymer clay (fimo, premo, sculpey) to sculpt my cake topper out of, or at least give the cake maker a rough draft of what I am going for. I have never used it before. Any tips or anything I should know about???

I also purchased a bottle of the glaze. Does it go on before or after I bake? If I want to paint it with acrylic or water based paint, should I do that on top of the glaze or under the glaze?

Thanks art/craft buddies if you have any info!

Hi Sarah, So glad to hear you're learning about polymer clay! Just found you on Twitter today.

For your topper you should use either Fimo or Premo since they are much stronger than Sculpey III. As far as tips, my blog will help. There are several articles on baking, sanding, finishing and glazes.

Type what you need information on into the search box on my blog and you will find all you need to know. The comment section below each post is where you can ask questions should you need more info.

Love to help you out best I can. Have fun with it... be warned polymer clay can be very addicting! :-)

My friend Kristin's blog has some entries on using polymer clay. Good luck!
